December Electronic Components Highlights:
- Global design and sourcing activity trends for electronic components were in line with typical seasonal patterns for December, with overall activity across the network declining month-over-month due to the winter holidays.
- Global design activities saw a slight decline of -2% compared to the previous month but grew by +10% compared to the same period last year. Activity growth was observed in the APAC region, while both EMEA and the Americas experienced the expected seasonal decrease. All regions reported year-over-year growth in design activities. Globally, the top verticals/applications that observed the highest volume of design activities in December included: computer equipment, industrial control and automation, aerospace, defense, automotive, and power management.
- Global sourcing activities decreased by -7% month-over-month and -4% year-over-year. This decline was observed across all regions, with EMEA showing the largest reduction in sourcing activities. Compared to prior year, global sourcing activities continue to remain below the same period last year. Globally, the verticals/applications that observed the highest volume of sourcing activities in December aligned with those reported for global design activities: computer equipment, industrial control and automation, aerospace, defense, automotive, and power management.
Calendar Q4 2024 Insights:
- Q4 performance aligned with expectations. Global electronic components design activities increased by +3% quarter-over-quarter, while global sourcing activities decreased by -5% quarter-over-quarter.
- Design activity growth was seen in the Americas (+6%) and EMEA (+11%), while the APAC region experienced a -7% decrease in quarter-over-quarter design activities. The largest growth in activities for the quarter was seen in capacitors, transistors, resistors, power circuits, and inductors.
2024 Electronic Components Summary:
