July 2024 Design and Sourcing Activity Chart

July Highlights:

  • Both global design and sourcing activities saw an unexpected month-over-month increase, outperforming typical seasonal trends. While these activities generally decline from June to July due to lower activity levels in the Americas and EMEA regions, this year, both regions experienced growth.
  • Global design activities rose by 6% month-over-month and 14% year-over-year, with the APAC and Americas regions driving this growth, while the EMEA region remained steady.
  • Global sourcing activities increased by 7% month-over-month but remained 10% below last year’s levels. All regions contributed to the month-over-month growth. The EMEA region observed the largest increase in sourcing activities (+12%), while the APAC and Americas regions observed more moderate increase in activities.
  • Global sourcing activities for discrete semiconductors increased +7% month-over-month, while for embedded processors it remained flat for the same period.
